About Me

About Me

Hello!  My name is Tasha Van Nice.  I was born and raised in Cut Bank, MT.  I attended MSU-Bozeman where I received an Elementary Education degree with an endorsement in Early Childhood.  After graduation, I moved to Helena to pursue my love of teaching.   After teaching Kindergarten in the Helena area for five years, I decided to take the year off from teaching to spend time with my first child. During this time off, I decided that I would enjoy opening and teaching Preschool.   I was excited about this new opportunity and couldn't wait to get back to teaching!  Since then, I have been blessed with another son, completed my Masters in Early Childhood Education,  and achieved a Level 5 on the STARS to Quality Program.  I am grateful for the opportunity to teach preschool and be at home with my two, fun and busy boys!!  I look forward to working with and getting to know each child and family as we embark on a new and wonderful journey of learning that will last forever!

ABC Academy Mission

The goal of ABC Academy is to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment that fosters each individual child.

I believe education is a partnership between parents and teachers. It is important to develop an open relationship based on communication and mutual respect.  This helps to build a strong foundation for success in your child's school experience.  To inform you of your child's learning, parents will receive monthly newsletters as well as an occasional phone call home to report good news!  Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom.  If you are interested, please visit with me to arrange a time.

During your child's time at ABC Academy, children will have the opportunity to establish lasting relationships with teachers and peers while developing a positive attitude toward school.  My hope is for each child to acquire a life- long love for learning during their time spent at ABC Academy.

ABC Academy Philosophy

ABC Academy provides a consistent schedule with a balance between teacher-directed and child-centered activities. By providing a setting that fosters self-esteem and builds confidence, children will be empowered to take risks in their learning. Through guided discovery, interactive play, and hands-on learning, children will be involved in a fully integrated curriculum.  The children will be introduced to multidisciplinary experiences including: children's literature, dramatic play, puppet shows, listening center, arts & crafts, science discovery & nature, cooking, sensory activities, social skills development, music & singing, fine & large motor activities, computer and early math skills. In addition, the curriculum will be enriched by special guests.

Testimonial

Finding a great preschool is many a toddler parent’s dream! The teachers at ABC Academy have built a wonderful, engaging, nurturing program that my daughter has thrived in, and we couldn’t be happier. Daily art projects, pre-reading activities, song-singing and healthy snacks and lunch are just some of the attributes my 3.5 year old can’t stop talking about. I have noticed an increase in vocabulary, social emotional learning skills, and confidence in the past few months.  Miss Tasha has created fun, age-appropriate activities and has maintained excellent, frequent parent communication. Her school is a 5-star rated program for so many reasons. My daughter and I simply love it here.
